When does your disc expire?

Your vehicle licence disc expires on the last day of the month shown on the disc. Renewal notices are sent to the registered owner's address on the eNaTIS system. If your address has changed and you haven't updated it, you may not receive a reminder.

Renew before the expiry date. Driving with an expired disc is an offence that can result in a fine.

What you need to renew

  • Your vehicle registration certificate (RC1 document)
  • A valid roadworthy certificate (if your vehicle is older than 4 years or as required by your province)
  • Your South African ID or valid passport
  • Proof of address (some licensing departments require this)

How to renew

Option 1: In person at a licensing department
